Resident Engineer 132KV / 275KV - Data Centre Project

Minimum Level Education

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic 

Qualifications

  • Malaysian Citizen

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised university.  

  • Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as a Professional Engineer.  

  • Registered with the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) as a Competent Engineer / Electrical Services Engineer for the applicable voltage level (132kV or 275kV), and eligible for registration to the plant. 

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the operation and maintenance of high-voltage electrical installations, with at least 3 years in substations (33kV/132kV/275kV), power plants, utilities, industrial facilities, or data centres.  

  • Sound knowledge of the Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, Energy Commission guidelines, and relevant Malaysian Standards and IEC standards.  

  • Demonstrated competency in high-voltage switching operations, electrical protection systems, testing and commissioning, and substation maintenance. 

Job Descriptions

  • Act as the appointed Resident Engineer (RE) and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and safety requirements. 

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of HV electrical systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, UPS, generators, and distribution networks. 

  • Plan and supervise preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities. 

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures, including PTW, LOTO, switching, and isolation requirements. 

  • Lead fault investigations, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and system restoration activities. 

  • Coordinate testing, commissioning, energisation, and performance verification of electrical systems. 

  • Maintain statutory records, technical documentation, maintenance reports, and operational logs. 

  • Liaise with utility providers, regulatory authorities, customers, contractors, consultants, and OEMs on operational matters. 

  • Monitor equipment performance and implement reliability improvement initiatives. 

  • Supervise Chargemen, Technicians, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient operations.
