Chargeman (33KV) - Data Centre Project

Minimum Level Education

 At least Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering. i.e: Energy Commission  

Qualifications

  • Malaysian Citizen.   

  • Possess a valid Chargeman Certificate of Competency (BO-33kV or equivalent) issued by the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia).   

  • Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution i.e Energy Commission  

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the operation and maintenance of high-voltage electrical installations, preferably in substations, utilities, industrial facilities, or data centres.   

  • Good knowledge of the Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, and relevant safety regulations.   

  • Able to perform high-voltage switching operations safely and competently.   

  • Physically fit to work in electrical substations and respond to emergency situations.   

  • Willing to work on rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and emergency call-outs.   

Job Descriptions

  • Perform shift duties to monitor and operate 33kV electrical systems and associated equipment. 

  • Conduct routine inspections of substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, and electrical distribution equipment. 

  • Carry out switching operations in accordance with approved procedures and safety requirements. 

  • Execute preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities. 

  • Monitor system performance using SCADA, BMS, EMS, or other monitoring systems. 

  • Respond to alarms, faults, and power system disturbances, and assist in troubleshooting activities. 

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements, including PTW, LOTO, and isolation procedures. 

  • Record operational activities, maintenance works, and equipment status in logs and reports. 

  • Coordinate and supervise contractors performing electrical works on site. 

  • Support testing, commissioning, and reliability improvement activities. 

  • Participate in emergency response and power restoration activities when required. 

  • Maintain valid competency certification and participate in training and competency development programmes.
